Instructor of Biology

Charleston Southern University invites applications for an Instructor of Biology. Charleston Southern seeks candidates who are professing Christians, committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service and who support the goals of a strong liberal arts education. Applicants should be willing to explore the integration of faith and learning with students.

Responsibilities:  Teach 24 semester hours (lecture and lab) per academic year; follow university policies related to instruction, attend and participate in departmental and university functions, serve on committees as required, and oversee CSU’s greenhouse and Herbarium Museum.  Quality teaching experience is required, preferably in the areas of foundations courses for biology majors, Botany, Plant Taxonomy and Plant Physiology.

Qualifications:   MS or PhD in Biology (preferably in the field of Botany)

Statement of Purpose

Charleston Southern University is a comprehensive institution affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. This suburban coeducational institution offers a liberal arts and professional curricula with degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The university was founded upon the principle that students should have an opportunity for a quality education under the guidance of Christian faculty. The South Carolina Baptist Convention founded the institution in 1964 as the Baptist College at Charleston. The campus is located 16 miles from the city of Charleston within the city limits of North Charleston. The institution changed its name to Charleston Southern University in 1990 to reflect the offering of graduate programs.
