Louisiana Christian University’s Rife and Carolyn Saunders School of Nursing is seeking a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as the Dean of Nursing. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for the School of Nursing and Allied Health, the Dean works collaboratively with academic colleagues to ensure the quality of all academic offerings of the University. The Dean fosters excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service while promoting a highly productive and collegial work environment. As a leader, the Dean oversees the strategic governance of the nursing program; promotes the University and the School of Nursing mission and goals; supervises and ensures program assessment, evaluation, and accreditation processes, and serves on key committees and task groups as needed. The Dean assists with recruiting and mentoring the faculty and staff, manages the budget, and oversees the resources, facilities, equipment, and initiatives that support a dynamic classroom, laboratory, research, and clinical experience for students. Twelve-month tenure-track faculty position; rank and salary commensurate with qualifications. Review of applications/nominations will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Appointment date August 1, 2024.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Building relationships within the University campus and with external community stakeholders;

· Promoting and maintaining effective communications between the academic community and the cooperating agencies;

· Arranging and maintaining contractual agreements with cooperating community agencies;

· Managing external funds;

· Partnering with institutional colleagues on fundraising and grant writing initiatives;

· Engaging in professional activities and associations at the regional and national level;

· Teaching in line with her/his academic interests and participating in continuing education programs to increase knowledge and skills;

· Ensuring an excellent education to students in a rigorous yet supportive environment;

· Traveling throughout the state and in surrounding states to build relationships, strengthen partnerships, and recruit students from hospitals and community/technical colleges;

· Developing curriculum pathways and collaborating with community and technical college for fast-track degree plans and advanced degrees.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in nursing, education, or a related field appropriate to the duties of the position and must hold a master’s degree in nursing.

Additional required experience, knowledge, and qualifications include the following:

· Distinguished career in nursing practice, education, and/or research;

· Record of accomplishment in teaching, scholarship, and service to qualify for appointment at the rank of associate professor;

· Demonstrated leadership, administrative, and supervisory experience;

· Experience in building and sustaining external relationships with clinical and community partners;

· Experience with traditional on-campus undergraduate programs, post-baccalaureate accelerated/hybrid programs, and online teaching modalities;

· Experience in curriculum development and assessment, including online course delivery, engaged learning, simulation, and use of instructional technology;

· Knowledge of program accreditation and faculty governance;

· Active engagement in professional associations;

· Effective management of fiscal resources, strategic planning, and program development.

License:

Must be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Louisiana. Lack of adverse findings on a Criminal Background Check.
