Biology Faculty Position – Full-Time Tenure-Track

The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Louisiana Christian University seeks to fill a tenure-track position in Biology to begin August 1, 2024.

Description of Position

Louisiana Christian University has a long tradition of excellence in preparing students for graduate and professional schools. The BS in Biological Sciences and in Applied Biology are foundational degree programs for preparing graduates for medical, dental, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other professional schools. LCU’s Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position to teach Biology coursework as part of these degree programs.

Applicants will need to demonstrate teaching competencies in both lecture and laboratory courses that will include the candidate’s specialty area as well as other specific needs in the department. Courses are delivered in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats. The position also requires that the faculty member be available for advising students and service on university committees. Faculty development through scholarship activities including travel and research with undergraduates is strongly encouraged and funding is available through an endowment.

Louisiana Christian University is a private, Baptist, coeducational university of liberal arts and sciences with selected professional programs, located in Pineville, Louisiana. LCU was founded in 1906 and is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Louisiana Baptist Convention. It has an enrollment of about 1,200 students and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate should hold a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Biology or an allied field which qualifies them to teach Biology
  • The ability to teach courses to both non-science majors and upper-level science students
  • A lifestyle consistent with a Christian worldview
  • The ability to integrate Christian faith into traditional coursework
