Professor of Music: Worship Studies (Open-Rank, Non-Tenure Track)

The School of Performing Arts at Ouachita Baptist University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, residential position in Worship Studies to begin August 2024.

The successful candidate will display a comprehensive knowledge of musical, theological, and organization of worship as well as effective strategies for multi-generational worship for any church, any size, any style. Experience as a successful classroom teacher and a desire to model ministry to students is essential. It is expected that the candidate will display an authentic Christian faith lived out through personal discipleship, an active involvement in a local church, support for the university’s vision, mission, and values, and a commitment to the Christian liberal arts tradition.

Primary responsibilities will include teaching Survey of Worship Music, Leadership and Administration, Directing the Rhythm Section, Next Gen Worship, and Technology and Media for worship and accompanying lab.

Other responsibilities will include supervision of internships and senior worship projects. Additional courses based on the candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the university may be assigned as needed. Other responsibilities will include implementing a successful recruiting strategy, supporting students through academic advising, building relationships with church worship leaders in the region, and actively participating in campus life. Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications and experience. A doctorate in music or equivalent professional experience is required.
