Gateway Seminary (www.gs.edu) invites applications and nominations for a full-time trustee-elected position, Professor of Missions.

Duties: The professor will be in residence at the Ontario, CA campus of the Seminary.  This position will:

  • Teach full-time graduate level courses in missions and missiology
  • Supervise Masters/Doctor of Ministry projects
  • Participate in general faculty responsibilities
  • Conduct scholarly research and writing
  • Represent and promote his/her discipline and the Seminary among the Seminary’s various constituencies
  • Participate in general faculty responsibilities
  • Work with students in on-campus mission fellowships
  • Promote and lead in the annual missions conference
  • Lead students to be connected to the world and the numerous diverse ministries that make up the Inland Empire area
  • Develop overseas partnerships
  • Gateway Seminary is known as a “missions school” and this position will work to continue that tradition and inspire students toward the future.
  • Travel to and teaching at other Gateway regional campuses may at times be required

Qualifications: A D.Miss. or a Ph.D. from an accredited institution with a specialization or competence in Missions or Missiology (other related fields could satisfy if the candidate has significant overseas experience).  Candidates are expected to have an established track record of productive teaching and scholarship for the church and for the academy as well as a demonstrated commitment to collegiality, to supporting students and promoting their success, the ability to participate in distance learning through the Internet and extension campuses, and should have significant field experience in a cross-cultural setting.  Preference will be given to those with Southern Baptist International Mission Board experience.

The candidate’s background should reflect an ability to function in a multi-cultural context. A successful candidate must affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, as well as the mission and vision statements of the Seminary. GS faculty are required to be active members of a Southern Baptist Church; in the cover letter, please describe your current church or denominational affiliation.

Rank and salary: Determined by credentials and experience.
