Louisiana Christian University is seeking a quality candidate to serve as the Laboratory Assistant
for the Physical Therapy Assistant Program. The Laboratory Assistant will provide instruction and
supervision in a laboratory setting to students enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant Program
in the Rife and Carolyn Saunders School of Nursing and Allied Health. The Laboratory Assistant
will implement assistive methods in practices and processes which maximize personnel and
supportive resources in the achievement of PTA program goals and may be asked to assist with
mentorship, orientation, and/or remediation. The PTA Laboratory Assistant reports directly to the
Louisiana Christian University Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for assisting in all scheduled laboratory sessions, including but not limited to,
preparation of laboratory for sessions as directed by course instructors. Additional duties
include student instruction and demonstration of various techniques/procedures.
• Recruitment of students to the Physical Therapist Assistant Program including
participation in various recruitment activities both on and off campus as well as
correspondence with prospective students through various methods.
• Assist course instructors with teaching of course content at the discretion of the Program
Director. (Applicable for candidates possessing Master level degree only)
• Responsible for overseeing all scheduled “Open Laboratory” sessions including opening
of the laboratory, making appropriate equipment and supplies available to students during
session, addressing student’s questions regarding program curriculum, and ensuring
student compliance with all laboratory rules (See LCU’s PTA Program Policy and
Procedure Manual).

Miscellaneous responsibilities:
o Assisting with program office/clerical duties as directed by the Program Director
o Attendance of campus-wide and program faculty/staff meetings.
o Attendance of seminars/workshops to improve and expand professional knowledge
and expertise and to satisfy requirements for professional licensure renewal.
• Responsible for laboratory maintenance including but not limited to:
o Maintenance of laboratory supply stock
o Laboratory equipment maintenance and repair
o Laundering of laboratory linen
o Ensuring general cleanliness of laboratory
• Teaching the Freshman Orientation course as needed as part of regular duties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program with an Associate of Applied
Science Degree; Possession of a current license to work as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the
state of Louisiana.
Desired: Master’s degree in Kinesiology or Physical Education, 1 year of clinical experience, teaching experience.
