The Department of Theatre Arts in the School of Fine Arts at Ouachita Baptist University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Theatre Arts, focusing on Performance and Directing, to begin August 2023. The successful candidate will exhibit excellent teaching in the context of a liberal arts education; scholarly activity in the field; a collegial commitment to professional, university, departmental, and community service; and a Christian commitment consistent with the University’s vision, mission, and values. Primary responsibilities will normally include course work (three-quarters load) and production responsibilities (one-quarter load). Other responsibilities will include supporting students through academic advising, collaborating in the creation of realized stage productions, recruiting students through events and auditions, coaching musical theatre recitals, and actively participating in campus life. Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications and experience. A terminal degree in theatre, along with evidence of successful teaching and creative activity in theatre performance, musical theatre, and stage direction are essential. Additional experience in movement and theatre education is preferred.
