The Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts at Hardin-Simmons University (Abilene, Texas) is seeking an Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor of Political Science.

The candidate’s primary academic field should be political science. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching and service is expected, and an ability to conduct scholarly work is desirable. This will be a 9-month, part-time faculty position on annual contract with enhanced compensation. The expected teaching load will be 2, 3-credit classes during the Fall and Spring semesters, in addition to the supervision of internship students.

A PhD in Political Science is preferred. Teaching experience is preferred. A master’s degree and at least 18 completed graduate credit hours in Political Science is required.

A successful applicant must also be able to:

– Teach courses in Political Science, including courses focusing on (1) American Government and (2) State and Local Government.

– Teach in a variety of formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes.

– Collaborate with other academic areas within the university, such as Criminal Justice, History, Philosophy, Psychology, and Social Work.

– Provide academic advising and mentoring of students, including students minoring in Political Science.

– Profess a Christian faith, maintain membership in a local congregation, and respect the values and distinctives central to the historically Baptist values of HSU.
