Job Summary – The Graphic Designer is responsible for the creation of a wide variety of print and electronic publications and other items to communicate Howard Payne University’s image and messages to on- and off-campus constituencies. Responsibilities include the conceptualization, design and production supervision of logos, promotional items, special-event material, brochures and advertising, along with serving as a photographer and videographer for HPU’s promotional needs. This staff member also assists with maintaining the University’s website and social media platforms. A key part of this role is the development of good working relationships with offices and departments across campus and at the University’s extension centers. The Graphic Designer reports to the Assistant Vice President for Communications and works with additional personnel, including student workers, in the Office of University Marketing and Communications.

Minimum Requirements – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University or at least three years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be 21 years old and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license to drive any vehicle on behalf of the University. Must have a good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (especially InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) for Mac and Microsoft Publisher for PC; commonly used Internet browsers; and Microsoft Outlook, Word and PowerPoint software. The employee must have a good working knowledge of the HPU website’s Content Management System within thirty (30) days of completing training after being hired.
