Description of Position  

Louisiana Christian University offers degrees in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Pre-Engineering, and  Mathematics which require requisite hours in Physics. These courses are foundational for science and math disciplines but are also essential components for Pre-Professional Studies such as medical, dental, physical therapy, and occupational therapy schools. LCU’s Division of Natural  Sciences / Mathematics / Computer Science is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position to teach Physics coursework as part of these degree programs.  

Applicants will need to demonstrate teaching competencies in both Algebra-based and Calculus-based General Physics. The successful applicant (depending on background) may be asked to teach Central Curriculum science coursework in areas such as earth science, meteorology, or astronomy; candidates with allied backgrounds and flexibility to teach Mathematics, Chemistry, or  Engineering coursework will be considered a plus.  

The position also requires that the faculty member be available for advising of students and service on faculty/university committees. Faculty development through scholarship activities including travel and research with undergraduates is strongly encouraged and funding is available through an endowment.

Louisiana Christian University is a private, Baptist, coeducational university of liberal arts and sciences with selected professional programs, located in Pineville, Louisiana. Qualifications  

The successful candidate should hold a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Physics or an allied field such as  Chemistry, Mathematics, or Engineering with qualifications to teach Physics.    

The candidate should demonstrate a Life calling to liberal arts education in a Christ-Centered setting.
