The Division of History and Political Science at Louisiana Christian University welcomes applications for a full-time, tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Political Science. The effective start date is August 2022. The successful candidate will be able to teach introductory and upper-level courses in American politics. Preference will be given to applicants who also possess the ability to teach pre-law courses and/or history courses.
Applicants need to demonstrate abilities to engage students in learning both in the classroom and online. Responsibilities of the position include serving as an academic advisor to students, participating on college committees, overseeing curriculum development and assessment for the Pre-Law and Public Administration degrees, and assisting the Division with its student recruitment efforts. Faculty development through scholarship activities is encouraged with funding available through an endowment.
All full-time faculty are expected to teach courses, hold office hours, and participate fully in departmental, collegiate, and college activities; to engage in scholarly/creative activity; contribute to departmental, college, and college work; advise students; participate in recruitment events and activities, and demonstrate a commitment to professional development. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an effective working relationship with the administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the community to ensure the success of the program.

Louisiana Christian University is a private, Baptist, coeducational university of liberal arts and sciences with selected professional programs, located in Pineville, Louisiana. LCU was founded in 1906 and is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Louisiana Baptist Convention. It has an enrollment of about 1,200 students and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Must be familiar with word processing software and have a basic understanding of computers and their application in an academic setting.
- Ability to motivate students to excel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to teach through a variety of mechanisms to effectively instruct students. • Successful background check.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Political Science is preferred. An M.A. in Political Science or J.D. will be considered. College-level teaching experience is preferred.
The candidate should demonstrate a Life calling to liberal arts education at a Christ-Centered setting.
Degree Level: Doctorate Preferred, Master’s Required
