Baptist Health Sciences University (Baptist University) invites applications for the position of Dean of General Education and Health Studies Division. Baptist University, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is an accredited private, Christian specialized post-secondary degree- granting institution, which offers baccalaureate and graduate degrees in nursing and associate and baccalaureate degrees in various allied health and health studies programs.

The Dean provides overall leadership for all general education courses as well as leadership and oversight of four undergraduate programs in the division, which are:  pre-health studies, biomedical sciences, health administration, and population health. 

The Dean reports directly to the Provost and has oversight of the division’s budget, faculty and staff development and evaluation. He/she is responsible for division strategic planning, program development and evaluation, and any program-related accreditation.

The successful candidate will have obtained an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university in a discipline related to either one of the areas within the division; curriculum and instruction; educational administration and supervision; adult education; or closely related field.

The successful candidate will have:

  1. Knowledge and experience in a) educational practices and procedures 2) assessment of student learning; c) various teaching modalities; 
  2. Five (5) years of teaching experience;
  3. Five (5) years of progressively responsible and significant educational leadership at a baccalaureate granting institution;
  4. The ability to develop, manage, promote and evaluate academic/educational programs.
