The dean provides leadership for the academic programs in the Holland School of Science and Mathematics and supervises a dozen full-time faculty and a similar number of adjuncts. The Holland School offers bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Physical Science, and Mathematics, and minors in Environmental Science, Geology, and Physics. It is in the process of developing an Engineering program. Leadership is needed in the form of planning, development, and implementation of all academic programs within the school. The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication skills and to be able to work closely with other deans and university administrators. The dean is responsible for the preparation of comprehensive annual reports for the HSU Board of Trustees and accrediting agencies. The dean will work with foundations, organizations, and donors of the Holland School to promote growth of endowment and support. Active participation in state and national professional organizations is encouraged.

Manage academic resources to advance the school’s academic standing and the University’s Mission.
Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and University constituencies.
Support faculty in ways that enhance teaching, research, and scholarship.
Lead efforts in strategic planning, establishing outcomes, and assessment leading to continuous improvement of institutional effectiveness.
Possess an informed understanding of the challenges facing Christian higher education in the twenty-first century and an openness to innovation to meet those challenges.
Demonstrate leadership ability.
Harness technology in the teaching/learning environment.
The dean will supervise four department heads, twelve full-time faculty, roughly a dozen adjunct faculty, staff, and student workers.
Doctorate in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering required.
Excellent teaching and communication skills required.
This position is a non-tenure track 12- month appointment.
