Job Summary:

The Dean for Graduate and Professional Studies has oversight responsibility for the School of Adult and Professional Studies (hereafter SOAPS) including the academic and administrative programs, services, and functions of the School as well as directing a centralized office for graduate and non-traditional undergraduate admissions.

Essential Job Duties:

· Advance the excellence of the SOAPS through the development, strategic planning, implementation, assessment, administration and continuous improvement of the academic programs, support services and administrative functions of the School.

· Provide leadership in the hiring, development, and evaluation of faculty (including adjunct faculty) and support staff for SOAPS. Provide oversight to ensure that the online programming aligns with the university policy and expectations for online programming and for faith integration.

· Collaborate with other academic deans and department chairs to ensure that an adequate selection of core courses, major courses, and electives are offered to meet program requirements. Work with the senior program director to schedule classes, assign classes for faculty and adjuncts, and monitor course enrollments.

· Oversee the assignment of advisors for students and the development and evaluation of advisors.

· Develop and manage budgets for SOAPS and, in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Advancement, explore appropriate possibilities for fund-raising for SOAPS.

· Promote mutually beneficial collaborations with stakeholders and constituents in the community, including regional businesses, local and state governments, congregations, and the general public.

· Teach up to six (6) credit hours each academic year.

· Collaborate with other College/School Deans and serve as an active member on the Academic Deans’ Council.

· Mobilize a team of recruiters for graduate and non-traditional admissions, develop and execute a marketing strategy for these programs, and oversee enrollment operations for graduate and non-traditional programs.

· Review and assess current recruitment and admissions practices for graduate and non-traditional programs and recommend a model for centralizing these recruitment efforts.

· Work with the Provost, the Office of University Communications, and the Academic Deans annually to articulate the vision and strategic marketing plan for graduate and non-traditional undergraduate programs. Develop the preparation of marketing, recruitment, and promotional materials, and the placement of advertising in appropriate web, print, and online advertising venues.

· Research market trends for graduate and non-traditional programs and inform the academic deans of possibilities for new programs that align with the university mission and with institutional resources.

· Cross-train recruiters to represent the university at appropriate events and to respond effectively to prospective students from inquiry to application, acceptance, and enrollment.

· Facilitate the training of office staff with CRM best practices to create and maintain databases of prospective students, to follow-up with prospective students and with incomplete applications, and to maintain timely and consistent communication with prospects.

· Conduct other duties as assigned by the Provost.

Required Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in an academic field relevant to Adult and Professional Studies; five years of experience as a college-level faculty member, including at least two years in academic leadership; and a demonstrated commitment to academic scholarship are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership skills, budget accountability, and effective stewardship of financial and human resources. Preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience or education in marketing and data analytics as well as experience and understanding of pedagogical best practices, including online pedagogy. Preference will also be given to candidates with the demonstrated ability to manage a complex organization while articulating a strategic vision for the future.
