Full-Time Tenure-Track Faculty Position
The Division of Natural Sciences / Mathematics at Louisiana College seeks to fill a tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2020.
Description of Position
To meet the growing demand for IT and software skills in the state of Louisiana, and with the support of regional employers, Louisiana College has established a new degree in Computer Science to meet this demand. The College plans for this major to provide graduates with both a strong technical capability and solid ethical commitment. Louisiana College recently received a significant donation to equip a brand new state-of-the-art computer science lab, and the lab will be fully functional by the Spring of 2020.
With this expansion of our programs at Louisiana College, the Division of Natural Sciences / Mathematics is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position to teach Computer Science coursework as part of the new degree program. This position
offers the candidate the opportunity to develop the new program, impact students and the community, and engage regional employers to implement and grow the program.
Applicants will need to demonstrate teaching competencies in Computer Science, including content in programming, coding, security, and information systems. The successful candidate needs to be able to teach coursework in algorithms, applied networking, computer architecture, and operating systems. Qualified individuals will be given leadership responsibilities as Department Coordinator and will have the opportunity to shape the goals and distinctives of this new degree program at the College.
The position also requires that the faculty member be available for advising of students and have a willingness to serve on college committees. Faculty development through scholarship activities including travel and research with undergraduates is strongly encouraged and funding is available through an endowment.

Louisiana College is a private, Baptist, coeducational college of liberal arts and sciences with selected professional programs, located in Pineville, Louisiana. The College was founded in 1906 and is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Louisiana Baptist Convention. It has an enrollment of about 1,200 students and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Qualifications
The candidate must have earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. Proven research track record, outstanding teaching skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to high-quality student success are expected. The ability to perform exceptional research and to procure extramural funding, advise students, and to collaborate with other faculty are also important. Areas of interest or expertise include cyber, mobile, and cloud security, critical infrastructure and systems security, cyber-physical and trustworthy systems, digital forensics, and agile software development. Other areas will also be considered.
