ABOUT THE POSITION:

Campbellsville University invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Vice President for Community and Student Success to begin January 2024.

Campbellsville University is seeking a dedicated and visionary leader to oversee the University’s efforts as it pertains to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) as we continue to enhance the university’s efforts in creating a loving and supportive campus community.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Associate Vice President will play a pivotal role in promoting student retention, fostering a sense of belonging, and building a community of support for students from diverse backgrounds.

This position requires a dynamic leader with a deep commitment to equity, Campbellsville University’s commitment to an authentic Christ-centered mission, and the advancement of underrepresented groups.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive strategy that aligns with the university’s mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with university leadership to integrate DEIA principles into all aspects of the student experience, curriculum, campus life, and employment practices.
  • Student Retention: Design and executeinitiatives aimed at improving student retention rates, especially among historically marginalized and underrepresented groups.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty, and student affairs professionals to identify and address retention challenges.
  • Community Building: Create and nurture a vibrant and inclusive campus community by organizing events, workshops, and activities that promote intercultural understanding, dialogue, and collaboration.
  • Teaching: Preference will be given to candidates who can teach coursework in the undergraduate or graduate areas.
  • Cultivate a Sense of Belonging: Develop and implement programs that enhance the sense of belonging for all students, with a special focus on those who may feel marginalized. Provide resources and support systems to help students navigate challenges related to their identities.
  • Partnership and Collaboration: Collaborate with academic departments, student organizations, and external stakeholders to create a network of support for students.
  • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and present data related to student experiences, retention rates, and campus climate. Use data-driven insights to identify trends, areas of improvement, and success stories.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs for faculty, staff, and students on DEIA topics to foster a more inclusive campus environment. Stay current with best practices and research in DEIA to continuously enhance the university’s efforts.
  • Policy and Advocacy: Collaborate with university administration to review and update policies that impact diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus. Serve as an advocate for underrepresented students and contribute to policy discussions.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage the allocation of resources, including budget and staff, to effectively implement DEIA initiatives and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A master’s degree in a related field (such as Education, Diversity Studies, Social Work, or a relevant discipline). A Ph.D. is preferred.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in leading diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in an educational setting.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments and stakeholders.

• Experience in designing and implementing student support programs and initiatives.

• Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze and interpret data to inform decision-making.

• Proficiency in creating and delivering training programs and workshops.

• A passion for promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in higher education.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience

The University has a strong intramural program as well.

In additional to athletics being an important part of the Campbellsville campus, CU–Harrodsburg, known as the Pioneers, boasts eight teams that compete in the Midwest region of the National Christian College Athletic Association. The Pioneers have won one team national championship in 2021-22, and three additional sports compete nationally.

Campbellsville University’s Campbellsville campus is located one-half mile from downtown Campbellsville, 82 miles southwest of Lexington, and 80 miles southeast of Louisville. Additionally the University has off-campus centers throughout the Commonwealth in Louisville, Harrodsburg, Hodgenville, Owensboro, Somerset and Windsor-Ontario. In 2019, the University opened an education center in Los Angeles in a partnership with the Phillips Graduate Institute to offer a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy.
