The Department of Human Sciences and Design at Baylor University invites outstanding candidates to apply for a tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in Apparel Design and Product Development within the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences. Responsibilities of the individual who holds this position will include establishing and maintaining a strong program of research and/or creative endeavors resulting in peer-reviewed publications and/or juried design exhibition; seeking funds to support scholarship; teaching undergraduate courses in apparel design and product development; mentoring students in professional development and pursuit of design competition; and providing service to the university, community, and profession. The anticipated date of appointment is August 2023.

Candidates for the position must have earned a doctoral or terminal degree in Apparel Design or Product Development or a closely related field; established research and/or creative scholarship agenda linking apparel design to the quality of life; record of research publications and/or juried design scholarship; ability to prepare and teach relevant courses in technical and creative design; interest in the intersections of faith and learning; and demonstrate a collaborative working style (strong communication and interpersonal skills) with faculty and students. The following are desirable qualifications: professional experience in the apparel industry or collaborative relationships with apparel design/product development professionals; experience in cross-disciplinary research; experience with federal and national research grant applications; evidence of successful teaching experience in higher education; proficiency with apparel design/product development technology; and experience in mentoring students in design scholarship.
