The Theatre Program in the Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts at Hardin-Simmons University (Abilene, Texas) is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Theatre.

The candidate’s primary academic field should be Theatre.  A strong commitment to teaching and service is expected, with scholarly work expected for promotion to full Professor. The standard, full-time teaching load is four, 3-credit classes each Fall and Spring semester.

A doctoral degree or MFA in Theatre is preferred; a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in Theatre is required. Teaching experience is also preferred, with an emphasis in directing, acting, and musical theatre.

A successful applicant will be able to

– provide exemplary teaching of theatre classes, including classes associated with acting, history, design, and technical aspects of theatre,

– direct at least one show per year. (Being able to serve as music director is an advantage.), and

– supervise and assist with performances as well as visual and design aspects of stage productions.

Five to six shows are produced each year, and they are an extension of classwork as we train theatre artists through our BFA programs in Acting, Musical Theatre, and Theatre Education and our BA and BBS degrees in Theatre.
