Assistant or Associate Professor of Music and Director of Bands

The School of Music in the Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts at Hardin-
Simmons University (Abilene, Texas) is seeking an Assistant or Associate
Professor of Music and Director of Bands.
A completed master’s degree and at least 18 completed graduate hours in Music
or a closely related field is required. A doctoral degree in the field of Music is
preferred although not required for this position. High School and University
teaching experience is also preferred, with experience in leading student travel.
The primary responsibilities of the position include directing HSU’s Concert Band
and & “The World Famous” Cowboy Band, in addition to recruiting for the School of
Music. Additional duties will be assigned based on the strengths of the selected
candidate and will include teaching academic courses in the School of Music, with
the possibility of teaching applied instrumental lessons of the candidate’s primary
instrument. Specific duties and course load will be determined after a candidate is
selected.
